What are the requirements for homeschooling parents\u00a0that choose a certified teacher to review their child’s portfolio for\u00a0the annual evaluation required by FL state law?<\/strong> Show the ceritifed teacher samples <\/strong>of your child’s portfolio (work) from the past year.<\/p>\n

What are the requirements for a Florida certified teacher conducting a portfolio review for the annual educational evaluation?<\/strong> Review samples <\/strong>of the child’s portfolio (work) and determine if the child has progressed comensurate to their ability or not, and have a discussion with the child.<\/p>\n

These common questions and their simple answers are the main reasons why I\u00a0do annual evaluations at such a low price.<\/p>\n

First of all, this is my contribution to help home educators and to promote the best\u00a0educational school choice \u00a0available to parents:\u00a0homeschooling!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Secondly, it only takes about 2 hours (generally) to complete the portfolio review. This isn’t brain surgery, and I have no outstanding college loans to pay (never did thankfully). I charge less. It is my attempt to be a helpful part of our community.<\/p>\n

If evaluators are charging too much because it takes them longer to complete the evaluation, ask yourself, and them:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0Is the “evaluator”\u00a0writing “reports” about the child’s portfolio and\/or progress? That’s not required for an evaluation from an evaluator. They should know better.<\/p>\n

2. Is the evaluator demanding to see the “activity log,” “reading list,”\u00a0in addition to the whole portfolio (all the child’s work)? For an annual educational evaluation<\/strong>, these extra items are not required by FL state law on home education.<\/p>\n

3. How much is the evaluator charging per hour? If it is just a flat rate, how long does the evaluator estimate that the evaluation will take? How does it usually take? If the answer is more than 2 hours, then ask, why?<\/p>\n

A standardized test, or test of any kind, is not required for the annual educational evaluation required by Florida state law on home education. Standardized tests are different. They do take longer and they are more expensive.<\/p>\n
