Annual Homeschool Evaluation Portfolio Review Discussion
The first choice of a Homeschool Annual Evaluation is the portfolio review in which samples of a student’s work are reviewed by the evaluator to determine if the student is progressing or not. This is simple and what the portfolio review evaluation is based on.

As a home education evaluator, I am required at some point of the evaluation to “have a discussion with the student,” – portfolio review. So, since I am not required to ask any certain questions in particular and the “discussion with the student” seems to be simply a formality, I use the “discussion” to encourage the student to do their absolute best in everything they do.
I ask questions like:
What is your favorite subject to study? Do you like homeschooling? Why do you like homeschooling? etc.
Recently I got and excellent response to my questions from a teenaged homeschooling student. I could not have stated the advantages to home education better than she did.
When I asked if she liked doing her educational studies from home, and why or why not, this young lady replied that with home education she “can focus on ONE subject at a time and truly study each subject thoroughly.” She also mentioned that with her parents, from home she is able to do her schoolwork as long as she likes, or needs to, and at anytime that she desires.” She mentioned that with homeschooling she can have a flexible schedule that enables her to study subject areas in depth, and go many places at times that she needs to which makes it possible for her to really master the subject skills and concepts to a higher level that is not possible for her in most formalized schools.
Now those are the kinds of statements and discussions that you have when speaking to almost all home educated children; mature, intelligent and with good, creative character.
Home Education RULES!
