Umbrella Schools In Florida
I have been looking into umbrella schools in Florida. As I usually do with all important subjects, having to do with the educational system, specifically for the requirements and/or procedures of the specific subject in Florida, I call the FL State Department of Education.
What do the umbrella schools in FL do with the information the students/parents give the umbrella school about themselves? I know that an umbrella school is under the classification of “private school.” Umbrella schools in FL do not have to show progress for their students or anything. Just that the students do academic work 180 days a year? How do they show that?
Since I first posted this I have been involved with some parents that are in what seems to be irreparable situations with their adult children that want to apply for some college courses, BUT they were NEVER homeschool registered, therefore the county homeschool office cannot show they ever “passed from one level to the next,” and graduated, or even attended any kind of school. Their “private school = umbrella school,” cannot show anything except attendance. They’re in “a fix,” that does not seem to be able to fix, to attend college courses.
I, C. Curtis Tucker, do Annual Educational Evaluations & Standardized Testing for homeschool students, quickly and economically. I am a Florida State Department of Education certified teacher & I am a homeschooling parent.
